Vitamin E also referred to as “Skin Vitamin” is both an antioxidant and a nutrient and is best known for maintaining skin health and immunity. Although Vitamin E is often considered as a single Vitamin, however it is a group of other antioxidants which are fat soluble and its numerous natural forms are referred to as Tocopherols. Natural Vitamin E is extracted from vegetable oils primarily soybean oil.
Vitamin E is naturally present in green leafy vegetables, eggs, nuts and seeds, seafood, legumes, meat and poultry, wheatgerm etc. However topical application can supply the skin with vitamin E and may also provide specific vitamin E forms that are not available from the diet.
Many carrier oils like Almond, Apricot, Babassu, Canola, Flaxseed, Grapeseed, Hazelnut, Olive, Safflower, Sunflower, Wheatgerm etc are also natural sources of a high Vitamin E content, making them suitable for use as Liquid Vitamin E substitute. It has excellent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties making it an excellent ingredient in many skin and haircare formulations.
Extremely Hydrating: Vitamin E lives and protects cell membranes, which form a protective barrier around cells to keep them healthy and hydrated which in turn helps in keeping skin moisturised and supple. It is fat soluble and therefore it is able to penetrate deep in the skin and preserves the lipids (fats). Vitamin E is also has anti-inflammatory properties which helps in fighting bacteria that causes redness, itchy and irritated skin.
Prevents Aging: When skin is exposed to UV rays and other environmental factors, it produces free radicals which are known to damage collagen, which ultimately results in wrinkles and brown spots. Vitamin E fights these free radicals by neutralizing their effect. However the vitamin E content in skin reduces in the process of protecting skin and thus topical application restores this and helps in preventing aging.
Compliments SPF: Apart from fighting with free radicals, Vitamin E also absorbs UV-B light, the nasty spectrum of sunlight which is responsible for burning and aging skin.
Massage therapy: Vitamin E is believed to boost energy and stamina, strengthen muscles and promotes muscle repair caused by exercising. It also improves blood circulation and is known to moisturise skin which is affected by wounds or scars by facilitating healing.
Skin Type: Suitable for all skin types
Caution: Not suitable for people with Soy Allergies
Storage: It is recommended to store carrier oils in cool dark place to maintain their freshness and maximum shelf life. If refrigerated, bring them to room temperature before use.
