Cypresus Scariosus - USDA Organic

Cyperus scariosus is more commonly known as cypriol. This plant largely grows in Madhya Pradesh, India and is called nagarmotha.

Cyperus scariosus grows to about 2 1/2 feet, with a thin stem that is dark green in color. It is a flowering shrub, where the flowers measure 2 to 8 inches in length. The nodes are about thick in diameter and is in an oval rhizome shape. The stem is aromatic and white in color on the inside. The rhizome is what generates the oil and contains alkaloids, sodium, minerals, along with calcium, sodium, and carbonates. It is distilled using steam distillation from the plants roots.

This weed is largely found only in India.

Common Uses:

Skin: Used in massage oil blends, creams, soaps, etc it can help in curtailing the growth of harmful microbes that affect the skin health. 

Mind: Nagarmotha oil acts as a tonic for the nervous system and influences the regular functioning of the body. 

Body:  When massaged on to the abdomen it aids in promoting the process of digestion by augmenting digestive fire, kills intestinal worms, binds stool, controls nausea, treats dysurea, irritation of the bowel and soothes upset stomach.

Caution: Avoid during pregnancy and with sensitive skin. It can cause possible sensitization in some individuals, so use in very low concentration only. It is important to note that all Essential Oils are extremely concentrated in nature and if to be applied on the skin or body, should always be diluted upto a maximum dosage of 4% in a suitable carrier oil.
