Extraction Method: Infusion of Marigold (calendula) flowers in a Jojoba and sesame oil

Description:  Calendula oil is a natural oil extracted from marigold flowers (Calendula officinalis). It is made by infusing marigold flowers in a sunflower oil or other carrier oil. Calendula comes from the Latin word, which means 'calendar' as it can bloom in all the seasons. Marigold flowers smell like honey and spicy and therefore this oil has honey-like, slightly spicy, woody and bitter aroma. Although sticky and viscous in texture, this oil comes with a host of miraculous benefits. It is well-known for the calming, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties on the skin. The healing properties are legendary.

Common Uses:  

Intensive skin care treatment: Calendula oil has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that are ideal for supporting, restoring and protecting the skin. It is a perfect choice for soothing many different forms of sore, inflamed skin conditions including chapped skin, burns, eczema, psoriasis, nappy rash, post-natal wounds and even cracked nipples! It is also indicated for reducing the appearance of thread/spider veins and varicose veins.

Slows development of wrinkles: The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in Calendula have been found to significantly protect against oxidative stress in human skin cells. Oxidative stress is an imbalance of damaging atoms and antioxidants. Oxidative stress plays a large role in the aging process as well as the development of several illnesses. Calendula allows it to keep skin hydrated and healthy making it a great component for daily lotions or lip balm.

Heals wounds: This oil has wonderful healing, soothing and rejuvenating qualities which makes it a great to include when mixing a massage or carrier oil blend. it is reputed to help stimulate the healing of stubborn wounds, ulcers, and bed sores.

May be used as Sunscreen: A lab study in 2012 found that this oil has SPF properties as a cream mixture. However more evidence is required to support.
