The Blood Orange is a variety of sweet orange, also known as Citrus sinensis. The name Blood Orange indicates blood-red colored pulp inside the fruit. It is extracted from the peel of the fruit through the cold pressing method.

It has a fruity and citrus aroma which is known to have an energizing effect on the mind and brings calmness and excitement.

This essential oil’s chemical constituents are antiseptic and healing in nature, and its red pigment, anthocyanin, is an antioxidant that is rare to find in the fruits of the rest of the citrus family.


Improves skin appearance: Blood orange oil can help detoxify and remove impurities from the skin. It also helps balance excess oil and encourages skin that is even-toned, healthy, and glowing.

Reduces acne: It has potent antimicrobial properties which help in keeping acne at bay. 

Soft skin: It also acts as a natural skin energizer as it deeply penetrating into the skin’s pores and supports the formation of collagen, which then results in soft, smooth, and plump skin.

Anti-aging: Antioxidant properties present in this oil slows the rate of skin damage experienced from UV exposure and pollution. This in turn helps in reducing wrinkles or fine lines.

Uplifts mood: Blood orange essential oil is effective for alleviating anxiety. It is uplifting and calming and may relieve tension and facilitate the flow of emotions that have been suppressed or numbed.

Caution: Avoid during pregnancy and with sensitive skin. It can cause possible sensitization in some individuals, so use in very low concentration only. It is important to note that all Essential Oils are extremely concentrated in nature and if to be applied to the skin or body, should always be diluted up to a maximum dosage of 4% in a suitable carrier oil.
