Caraway is from Umbelliferae family which is closely related to anise, dill fennel and cumin. It originated in Asia but now is cultivated in Egypt, Northern Europe and Russia as well. Caraway essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the seeds of the plant. It has a distinctive aroma which makes it a wonderful addition to aromatherapy and fragrance blends.

It is uplifting and energizing oil with sweet, spicy, musky and fruity aroma.

 

Common Uses

Skin: The carvone and limonene compounds of this oil helps in regeneration of tissues, while preventing signs of aging as it prevents formation of wrinkles and sagging of skin.

Detoxify body and aid in Digestion: The antiseptic and antibacterial properties of this oil can sure many infections within colon, digestive, urinary and excretory system. It also helps to heal and cleanse wounds thereby preventing further inflammation of external wounds.

Mitigate Menstrual discomfort: It also provides relief from menstrual cramps as it contains emmenagogue which offers pain relief from the contraction of uterine walls. It can also help prevent menstrual obstruction and delay by regulating blood flow in the uterus.

How to use: Mix 5 drops of this oil with 2.5ml almond oil and massage lower abdomen and thighs

Induce Lactation: The galactogogue properties of this oil is known to stimulate and increase milk production for mothers. It also improves the quality and quantity of the milk production. However please check with the doctor before using this oil.

Product Color: Colourless to Pale yellow

Blends Well With:  Basil, Coriander, Ginger, Chamomile, Orange, lemon, Lime, Bergamot, Lavender, Frankincense, Geranium, Cinnamon, Clove bud

Caution: Avoid during pregnancy and with sensitive skin. It can cause possible sensitization in some individuals, so use in very low concentration only. It is important to note that all Essential Oils are extremely concentrated in nature and if to be applied on the skin or body, should always be diluted upto a maximum dosage of 4% in a suitable carrier oil.
